Day Two
Algebra 2H pd 1
After moving to assigned seats, we continued going over exponential functions. We learned that if the base >1, then the graph represents exponential growth. If the base is between o and 1 (a proper fraction), then the graph represents exponential decay.
HW Worksheet # 13-16a---In other word, do ALL of the graph problems.
EC problem...Graph y= 2^x and y= 2^x +1 on the same axes. How do these graphs differ and how are they similar?
Geometry H pds 2,4
All fo you were assigned seats today.
We went over ratio problems as used in geometry examples.
HW Make sure # 1-12 all are done on the worksheet we started in class today.
EC problem.....In an isosceles triangle, the vertex angle measures 56ยบ. Find the ratio of the vertex angle to one of the base angles. Simply.
Algebra 2B pd 5
You were assigned seats today.
We learned how to graph equations of the form y=a^x where a= the base and x = the exponent. If the base > 1, the graph represents exponential growth. If the base is a fraction between 0 and 1, the graph represents exponential decay. We also learned that the x axis is the asymptote (the line that the graph approaches but never reaches) for most exponential equations.
HW Worksheet -Do 13-16a- in other words, do ALL the graph problems.
EC problem....Find examples of the term asymptotes on the internet. Bring to class tomorrow.

Day 1 Spring Semester
Algebra 2H pd 1
After reviewing the expectations for this semester, we started an exponential function problem.
What happens by the 30th day of a month if you begin with 1 cent on day 1, 2 cents on day 2, 4 cents on day 3, and so on until day 30?
How much will you receive on day 30? How is this answer related to powers of 2?
HW Finish the chart we started in class today, and go over the class expectations with your parents making sure they sign on the back with their daytime phone number and e-mail address, if possible.
EC problem......Describe the nature of an exponential function using 2^x as your example. Make a chart and graph your ordered pairs.
Geometry H pds 2,4
After going over the class expectations for the spring semester, we reviewed the concept of ratios, completing a puzzle worksheet during class. A ratio is a comparison of 2 numbers in the same unit of measure.
HW Do the puzzle worksheet handed out at the end of today's class. Also, have your parents sign the paper on class expectations. Make sure they write their daytime phone number and e-mail address if possible.
EC What is the ratio of 10 inches to 4 feet?
Algebra 2B pd 5
After reviewing the expectations for the spring semester, we went over a problem related to exponential functions.
How much money would you receive at the end of 30 days if you received 1 cent on day 1, 2 cents on day 2, 4 cents on day 3, 8 cents on day 4, and so on until the end of the month? The answer surprised many of you. We then went over the function y = 2^x where x = the exponent. We will continue with exponential functions tomorrow.
HW Have your parents sign the paper on the class expections for this semester. Make sure they include a daytime phone number and e-mail address if possible.
EC problem.....Why do you think exponential functions start out with slow growth, and then increase so quickly towards infinity? Answer in at least two sentences.
