Today, we started learning the section of Chapter 9 on the segments of a circle (Section 9.7) Three new theorems were taught.
HW Worksheet # 1-12 all -You should read over the material and sample problems to help you do these problems.
EC problem....Chords AB and CD intersect inside Circle O at point P. If AB = 12, CP = 9, and
DP = 4, find BP. This problem involves factoring.
Algebra 2B pd 5
We thoroughly went over the problems on the ellipse, one of the conic sections.
HW Worksheet # 1-7 all

Week Eight
Algebra 2H pd 1
We are having a quiz on the circle and ellipse on Monday. A review sheet was given out during class today. It is to be completed before you take the quiz.
HW Do the review worksheet-all questions assigned.
EC problem.....An ellipse has its center at (-3,2). The endpoints of its major axis are at (-3,8) and (-3,-4). The endpoints of its minor axis are at (-6,2) and (0,2).
Find the equation of this ellipse and find its foci.
Geometry H pd 2
Today was the quiz on the Angles of a Circle. You will get the results on Monday.
HW Worksheet on Inscribed Angles puzzle. This will be collected on Monday.
EC Explain why you had trouble or did not have trouble mastering the concept of the angles and arcs of a circle. Use at least four sentences.
Algebra 2B pd 5
We continued going over the equation of the ellipse. We went over problems in which the center was NOT at (0,0). We also went over how to complete the square for ellipse equations.
HW Worksheet # 42,44,45, and 47.
EC problem # 48

Week Eight
Algebra 2H pd 1
After going over hw questions, I handed out another worksheet on Ellipses.
Do # 1-10 all---# 6-10 should be easy. We will go over how to name vertices and co-vertices tomorrow. Quiz on Circles and Ellipses will be on Monday.
EC An ellipse has foci coordinates at (6,2) and (-6,2). The coordinates of the vertices are (10,2) and (-10,2). Write the equation of this ellipse in standard form. (Find the center first.)
Geometry H pds 2,4
Quiz tomorrow is on the Angles of a Circle.
Study the Quick Draw and all worksheets we did for classwork and homework. It is your responsibility to BE PREPARED!!!!
EC problem....Draw a circle. Draw two tangent segments AB and CB that meet at B. If Angle ABC = 83º, find the measures of the two intercepted arcs. Label them on your circle. Use 3 letters for the major arc.
