We reviewed the lesson on solving for the segments of a circle. Some of the problems involved factoring.

EC problem... Draw circle O with chords CD and AB intersecting at point P. If AB = 5, BP = 4, amd CD = 12, find CP.

We went over the answers to the Mini-Test today. We also went over CST problems from the 2008 Test.
No HW this weekend, other than your upcoming Block Lettering Projects. Also, you SHOULD go over the CST questions I reviewed this whole week and make sure you understand them!

After going over some CST problems, we continued going over the lessons on Probability. We learned about complementary events and mutually exclusive events, in which P(A and B) = 0. In mutually exclusive events, there is no intersection.

HW CST Paper # 26-32 and book page 42 # 1,5,7, and page 45 # 1,3,5.

EC problem---In rolling two dice, what is the probablity of getting at least one 2?

We are reviewing for the CST next week. After going over the problems on Pythagorean Theorem and angles #26-37, we started reviewing trigonometry and circles.

Today, pds 3 and 5 received the new project on BLOCK LETTERING due for next Wednesday. Pd 6 students received this project last week.
We went over the correct answers for questions # 1-18 on the CST Practice.
We also went over formulas regarding the chords, secants, and tangents of a circle.

EC problem. Two chords meet inside a circle. The segments of one chord ar 15 cm and 6 cm. The segments of the other chord are x and 5 cm. Find x.

We went over the problem on solving for the measures of 10 angles in one diagram.

EC problem....An inscribed quadrilateral in a circle has angles of measures 130, 62, 50, and 118. Find the measures of each nonoverlapping arc of the circle.

We learned about the sum of the terms in a geometric sequence and how to find the sum if the geometric sequence is infinite. Your notes should contain the formulas.
HW page 640 # 19,23,27,31,35,39,47(pd 2 only), and 55 on page 642.

EC problem....the end of a swinging pendulum 90cm long moves through 50cm on its first swing. Each succeeding swing is 9/10 of the preceding one. How far will the pendulum travel before coming to rest? (this problem is similar to th dropped ball problem)-5 ec points if done correctly with work shown!

Geometry H pds 3,5,6
We went over the formulas for calculating the angles in a circle formed by 2 chords, by 2 tangents, by 2 secants, and by a secant and tangent. A worksheet with all of the formulas and examples of each was done during class.
HW Worksheet # 1-19 all

EC problem Draw a circle with two tangents meeting at the same point. If the major arc formed is 232 ยบ, then find the measure of the angle formed by the 2 tangents.

After I collected the hw, we learned about finding the measures of inscribed angles in a circle. They are equal to half of their intercepted arcs.
