Algebra 2H
We are learning our last major math lesson in algebra 2-the binomial theorem as used for probability...tomorrow, we will finish this important lesson.
HW page 51 # 1,3, page 52# 13,15,17
and page 59 # 1,3
EC problem page 59 #6 and page 52 # 16
Geometry H pds 3,5,6
We learned our last official lesson in class today- the midpoint formula for geometry. Our last quiz before the final exam is on Wednesday-it will cover the distance, slope, and midpoint formulas.
HW Worksheet #13,14
EC problem # 15 (worth 4 points if done correctly!)

All classes finished taking the UCLA Diagnostic Test for determining readiness to proceed to the next level of mathematics. In about two weeks, I should receive a detailed printout from UCLA about your test results. Of course, I will share the results with all of you!
Algebra 2H
On Monday, we will continue with the unit on Probability. Make sure you have pages 42 and 45 done, since it will count TRIPLE the usual credits.
EC If you roll two dice 240 times, how many times do you expect to get the sum of 7 or 11? (Find the probability of this event, and then multiply by 240).
Geometry H pds 3,5,6
On Monday, we will be going over the midpoint formula. At this point, you should know and understand the distance and slope formulas, and be able to use them to prove that a quadrilateral is a parallelogram, rectangle, rhombus, or square.
EC Question...How is the slope formula used to prove that a quadrilateral is a parallelogram? How is the slope formula used to prove that a parallelogram is a rectangle? If answered correctly, I will count this as FIVE extra credit points!

All classes took the UCLA Diagnostic Math Test today. It is used to see if students are ready to proceed to the next level of math. Because most students did not finish the test, the test will be continued during tomorrow's class.
Bring all hw to class tomorrow!
EC Question- What did you think about the test today? Do you think the results will predict your success in math next year? Why or why not?

Week of June 1st
Algebra 2H pds 1,2
The web log is running again!
Tomorrow is the UCLA Trig/Pre-Calculus Readiness Test.
We covered the probablity of complementary events and compound events using the inclusive or and mutually exclusive events (no intersection).
HW page 42 # 1,3,5,7, and9
page 45 # 1,3,5
EC problem # 6 on page 45.
Another EC problem If you tossed 2 dice 120 times, how many times would you expect the number 4 to show up? Explain.
Geometry H pds 3,5,6
Tomorrow is the UCLA Algebra 2 Readiness Test. Try to get a good night's sleep!
Today, we covered how to use the slope to determine if two lines are parallel or perpendicular or neither. We also used the slope to tell if a quadrilateral is a parallelogram, rhombus, rectangle, or square.
HW Finish the worksheet started during class.
EC problem...Line AB has a slope of 2/3. Line CD has a slope of 3/2. Are these lines parallel or perpendicular? Why or why not?

Pds 1,2 Algebra 2H
We covered the basics of probability.
HW -paperback book -# 1,3,7,9, and 15-I'm home without the book so look for the hw page after the lesson on probability.
Remember that binders will be checked for 100 points at final exam time (about two weeks from now).
EC problem #16 on the hw page...
Geometry H pds 3,5,6
After reviewing the distance formula, we went over the slope formula for horizontal and vertical lines, as well as for slanted lines.
HW Worksheet # 10-22 all
EC problems # 22,23- Do these on a SEPARATE paper for the credits.
Remember that binders will be checked in two weeks during final exam time!
