After going over rational exponent problems, the Final Exam Review Sheets were given out.

Geometry H pds 3,5
We went over the lesson on Trapezoids and its medians. We also went over properties of an isosceles trapezoid.
HW worksheet # 1-17 all Show all work!
EC problem Why is a trapezoid NOT a parallelogram? Also, draw an isosceles trapezoid. If one base angle = 2x+12 and another base angle = x + 78, find x, and all of the angles.

Trig pd 4
After I went over hw questions on Trigonemetric form for complex numbers, I reviewed some of the problems from this semester. The final review sheet was then handed out.
HW # 1-11 all.. This will count TRIPLE the usual hw. Work must be shown to receive credit.
EC problem Change 3-3i to trigonometric form.

Tomorrow will be a quiz on Complex Numbers. To do well, you need to understand all of the problems on the two worksheets given out in class.

Geometry H pds 3,5
The District Quarterly Test is this Wednesday. Today, we went over the other quadrilaterals that are special (trapezoid and kite).
HW Worksheet 6.2 # 1-24 all.
EC problem If a rhombus has sides of 15 cm and one diagonal is 18 cm, what is the length of the other diagonal? (Remember that the diagonals are perpendicular and bisect each other.)

Quizzes were given back. HW problems were discussed.
We started a review of Complex Numbers from Algebra Two. We will be using complex numbers in trig problems.

The District Quarterly Test will be next Wednesday. It willprimarily cover the Pythagorean Theorem,Congruent and Similar Triangles.
Today, we learned the properties of the rectangle, rhombus, and square. These should be memorized.

Another ec...Draw a rhombus with its two diagonals as accurately as possible. Number the angles formed # 1-8. If the measure of angle 3 is 48º, find the measure of the other 7 angles.

Today, we learned two formulas for finding the area of a triangle. Heron's formula does not use trigonometry. The first formula does (A = 1/2 ab sin C)

We started the unit on Special Quadrilaterals with the Parallelogram and its properties being the first special quadrilateral of the unit. We learned that opposite sides of a parallelogram are parallel and congruent, opposite angles are congruent, and the diagonals bisect each other.
HW -Make sure # 1-13 are completed from today's worksheet.
Also, the projects on Block Lettering with either one or two point perspective are due tomorrow.

The next quiz is on Thursday. It will cover the law of sines, ambiguous case, and the law of cosines.

We finished going over problems using the Law of Cosines-today we went over problems that have SSS given and you have to solve for each angle of the triangle.

Today, we went over simplifying radicals for multiplication(FOIL) and division.

Our next quiz is tomorrow. It will cover finding the geometric mean, using the geometric mean to solve the sides or altitude of a right triangle, the Pythagorean theorem, including the proof as a bonus, and being able to tell if a triangle is a right, acute, or obtuse triangle if you know the measures of its sides.
HW Finish the worksheet from today's class and STUDY the worksheets we've done so that you will do well on the quiz!!!!

EC If a triangle has lengths of 7,14, and 20, is it acute, obtuse, or right? Why?

After going over the hw problems on the Ambiguous Case, we learned how to solve for the sides and angles of a triangle using the Law of Cosines. The derivation of the formula was shown, as well as several examples of how to use the formula. Use the law of cosines when given SAS or SSS.
HW worksheet #2,5,6,19, and 20.
Ec problem #13. If done correctly, I'll count this for 2 points!

We learned how to add and subtract radical expressions. It's similar to combining like terms with variable expressions.

The new project on Block Lettering was assigned today. It is due next Wednesday, January 20th.
After going over hw problems, I collected the hw papers. I then went over the Proof of the Pythagorean Theorem. The proof is based on the lesson we just finished learning.
HW worksheet #1-8 all and #20-24.
EC problem - Find the measure of the leg of a right triangle if the hypotenuse is 41 and the other leg is 10.

We went over the hw on the Ambiguous Case using the law of sines. Not all triangles fit the ambiguous case.

We continued with the lesson on radicals-today we went over how to solve fraction problems with radicals in the denominator. Remember to write the INDEX number in your radical unless it's a square root radical.

We learned why there is no ASS in geometry for congruent triangles. This is because of the AMBIGUOUS CASE. There may be 0,1, or 2 triangles formed when the given information has ASS!

We went over how to simplify radical expressions with suare, cube, fourth, and fifth roots. We learned how to simplify radical expressions with variable powers as well.

We learned about the geometric means in proportions, and then went over problems in right triangles that involve using the altitude as geometric means, and each leg of the original right triangle as geometric means. Many examples were done during class.

We learned how to use the law of sines to solve missing parts of any triangle.
