We went over the sum of the exterior angles of any polygon = 360º. to find each interior angle of a regular polygon, divide the sum by the number of sides.

Today was the quiz on word problems involving systems of equations.
Tomorrow, we will begin the unit on Exponents and Factoring Expressions.
EC question...A plane flew with the jet stream a distance of 2250 miles in 5 hours. The plane then flew against the jet stream a distance of 1750 miles in 5 hours. Find the rate of the plane in calm air.

Today, we proved that the angles in a triangle add up to 180º. We also learned the formula for finding the sum of the interior angles in any polygon.
It is 180(n - 2).

After viewing the Op ART projects, we went over the fact that the exterior angle of a triangle = the sum of the 2 remote interior angles.

Ec question... If the exterior angle of a triangle = 6x and the two remore interior angles are 2x and x+48, find x and the measurement of all the angles. Draw a diagram of this problem.

Today was the quiz on Vector and Navigation Problems.

After going over the hw on parallel lines and angles, we started the lesson on the Triangle. The main idea is that the sum of the angles of a triangles = 180º.

It is essential that all students review the worksheets at home!
We went over more problems on corresponding angles, alternate interior angles and same-side interior angles making lines parallel. Corresponding and alternate interior angles must be congruent, and same-side interior angles must be supplementary for the lines to be parallel.
A "Pop" quiz was given today as well.

We learned that if two parallel lines are cut by a transversal, then corresponding angles are congruent, alternate interior angles are congruent, and same-side interior angles are supplementary.

EC If parallel lines l and m are cut by transversal t, and angle 1 and angle 2 are same-side interior angles, find the measure of each angle is angle 1 = 2x+24 and angle 2 = 3x +16. Draw a diagram of this problem also.

We are reviewing for our quiz this Wednesday. Topics are solving systems of equations in 2 or 3 variables, plus solving systems by the substitution method.

Geometry H pds 2,5
We discussed the next are geometry project on Optical Art. All op art projects are due next Tuesday, October 26th.
We also started the new unit on transversals and special names of angles formed by two lines cut by a transversal.
HW Finish the worksheet # 11-24 all.
Ec problem....Draw two lines and cut them with a tranversal. Label the lines AB and CD and the transversal t. Label the 8 angles formed by using numbers 1-8.
Name your corresponding angles, alternate interior angle angles,alternate exterior angles, and same-side interior angles. These should be named in pairs.


Trig- We are still working on trig application problems. We went over problems involving bearing.
HW Worksheet -Do all problems.
EC problem- A boat travels on a course of bearing S 56.7º W for 104.8 miles. How many miles south and how many miles west has the boat traveled?

Due to the many 10th graders taking the CAHSEE Prep Test, students in class worked on a puzzle which involved graphing two equations on the same graph to find the solution to the system.
Students taking the CAHSEE prep will have to make up this puzzle.

Because the majority of students were in class, we reviewed for tomorrow's test. New work was NOT covered.
The topics for tomorrow's test are: Writing Conditionals and their converses, Writing Biconditionals, knowing how to use the Laws of Detachment and Syllogism, understanding complementary, supplementary, and vertical angles, and properties from algebra.

We went over the fact tht perpendicular lines have slopes that are negative reciprocals of each other. We also graphed linear inequalities(solid line for = and dashed line otherwise). Shad above the line for > and below the line for <.

We started Chapter 2 today by going over conditional statements and their converses. A conditional statement should be written in if-then form.

We began the unit on 2 variables with the graphing of a line and its forms. There's standard form, slope-intercept form, and point-slope form.
HW page 129 # 7,11,15,17, and page 141 # 7,11,15,19,31, and 35.

EC problem- Graph the equation 3x -4y = 12 using the x and y intercept method. Then, show that the line will be the same if you solve for y and use the slope-intercept form.(In other words, graph this equation twice using two different methods.)

Today was the Test on Chapter One. It covered many different topics.
A puzzle on Complementary and Supplementary Angles was given out afterwards. It will be collected on MOnday so make sure you do the work!

EC problem- Two angles are supplementary. One angle is 3x and the other angle is 2x-10. Find the measure of each angle.

We began the second chapter today. We went over how to calculate the exact values of the trig functions of 0º, 30º, 45º, 60º, and 90º angles. We also learned about cofunctions.
