Today was the quiz on Complex Numbers.
After the quiz, a puzzle on complex numbers was given for hw.
Work and coloring are required this time.
EC- Why does the multiplication of 2 conjugates always result in a real number? Explain by giving an example and use words too.

Today was the quiz on the Multi-Angle Problem. Students should have prepared for this quiz by studying the example from the previous class. Too many students did poorly on this little quiz.
HW- Construct the circumscribed and inscribed circles on the worksheet given out in class.
EC On a separate paper, draw your own right triangle and construct a circumscribed circles by constructing two perpendicular bisectors.

We learned some interesting facts about the medians of a triangle. The centroid of a triangle is where the 3 medians intersect. It is known as the center of gravity.
HW On the back of today's worksheet, draw the median from point A in each triangle (# 1,2,3)
EC Using a ruler, draw a triangle, find the midpoint of each side, and draw the three medians. Label the centroid. Cut out your triangle and see if your dentroid is the center of gravity. Bring to class tomorrow. It works better if you use cardboard or heavy paper.

We compared and contrasted the factoring method with the Complete the Square Method for solving quadratic equations. If equations factor, that is usually the easier method to use.

After going over the hw problems, we had another problem to solve involving the Ferris Wheel. The quiz tomorrow will cover finding the equation of a trig graph and a Ferris wheel problem similar to the one started in class today. This will be collected tomorrow.
EC problem- Write the inverse of y = 3x-4 and graph both equations.

We learned the procedure for solving Quadratic Equations called Completing the Square. This process is 3-5 steps depending on how complicated the problem is.

We learned the Isosceles Triangle Theorems with many examples to show how these theorems are used for solving geometry problems.
The theorems we learned are: If the triangle has 2 sides congruent, then its two base angles are also congruent.
If the triangle has the two base angles congruent, then its two sides opposite those angles are also congruent.
HW Worksheet- Do BOTH sides. Use your textbook to fill in the missing words on the front side.
EC question- Write the two theorems listed above as a BICONDITIONAL.

We went over the Ferris Wheel problem again-this time, we wrote a trig equation which expressed the height in relation to the time. Eight values must be filled in the chart.
HW Worksheet #15-23 odds, #26,27
EC problem-Make a model of the Ferris wheel called the Colossus. Its diameter =165 feet, and the top of the wheel is 174 feet above the ground. It makes one revolution every 10 minutes. Find its equation using the cosine graph.
If done correctly, this problem will count as 4 EC points.
