Today, we learned about the ellipse-every point on the ellipse is the same distance from two focal points called foci. There is a major and minor axis as well.

We solved log equations using scientific calculators. Whenever you have to solve for an exponent, use logs. We also went over the formula for compound interest compounded quarterly.

We learned about the number e, which is approximately 2.718.
We also learned about natural logs (ln) which simply means that the base is e.
So, for logs, the base is 10, and for ln, the base is e.
Natural logs are easier to use in our upcoming word problems (tomorrow).
